ENTREPRENEURIAL ENTERPRISE GENERATES
ASSET BASED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Together for Hope helps community residents grasp and develop their own assets for both community and economic development. In concert with local citizens, we support the discovery and implementation of entrepreneurial enterprises which will increase employment and economic stability on the Together for Hope focus counties.

Examples of these endeavors include Higher Ground Coffee House and Lakota Prairie Ranch Resort on the Pine Ridge Lakota Sioux Reservation. Cheyenne River Reservation examples are a Tipi Bed and Breakfast and an equestrian business. The equestrian enterprise includes horseback riding, wagon rides, and a miniature horse drawn sulky ride.

Adjoining the Pine Ridge Reservation, in White Clay, Nebraska, Bruce and Marsha BonFleur operate their ABOUT ministry. The ABOUT entrepreneurship provides a thrift shop, community garden, craft cooperative and other ministries for Lakota people of Pine Ridge. ABOUT’S (also called 555 for the five smooth stones David used to slay the giant) goal is to provide employment opportunities which will yield $10 plus hourly wages to Pine Ridge residents.
